‘His death will not be in vain’

If there is one statement Spencer County Public Schools’ Director of Operations Brett Beaverson wants to make about maintenance employee Wayne Howell’s June workplace death, it is this: “It will not be in vain.”
Howell, 61, was found dead June 11 at the Jefferson Street maintenance garage next to Taylorsville Elementary School trapped under a rotary mower. He had worked with the district since the 1980s and was well-known for his good sense of humor and constant smile.
