The Spencer County Fair 4-H and FFA Hog Show was this past Saturday, July 16. A good time was had by all with Warren Beeler from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture judging.
There were showmanship classes for all ages, including novice. In 4-H, Courtney Jeffiers placed 1st and Champion, with Ashley Montgomery, Dalton Stallings, and Dillon Stalling participating in this class. Matthew Jeffiers placed 1st and Champion in the FFA, with Danielle Montgomery and Emily Hume participating. The overall Spencer County Showmanship Champion went to Matthew Jeffiers. Courtney Jeffiers was the Reserve Champion.
In the Novice Showmanship class Brooke Montgomery, Casey Montgomery, Tanner Hance, and Daniel Hahn all took home champion ribbons.
Supreme Breeding Gilt Champion went to Courtney Jeffiers with her March Duroc. Matthew Jeffiers was 1st with his January Duroc. He was also the Reserve Champion Duroc, and Courtney Jeffiers was second in this class. Danielle Montgomery placed 1st in the February Duroc class.
Dalton Stallings placed 1st and champion in the X-Bred Gilt Division with his January gilt. Matthew Jeffiers exhibited the January Spot, who was also this division champion.
In the Pen of 2 Division, Courtney Jeffiers took the 1st place honor with her Durocs and Danielle Montgomery’s Spots were 2nd.
Supreme Market Hog went to Ashley Montgomery with her Heavy Weight Champion and Reserve Market Hog went to Danielle Montgomery with her Light Weight Champion. Congratulations to the class winners in the light weight division: Emily Hume, Ashley Montgomery, Matthew Jeffiers, and Danielle Montgomery. Matthew Jeffiers was also named the Reserve Light Weight Champion. Ashley Montgomery, Dillon Stallings, Matthew Jeffiers, and Courtney Jeffiers and Emily Hume showed the Reserve Champion Heavy Weight Market Hog.
Thanks to Casey Montgomery, Brooke Montgomery, Sydney Warren, and Madison Warren for serving as the ribbon girls at the show. You all did a great job!
