4-H participates in livestock judging contest

The State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest was held on Tuesday, June 17th at the Muhlenberg County Ag Center in Powderly, KY. Spencer County had eight participants in the contest. Connie Jeffiers, Livestock Leader and Coach, did a great job at coaching and motivating all of the team members. The awards were held on June 18th in Muhlenberg County at a local church.
The Clover Team, consisting of Casey Montgomery, Lee Tyler Owen, Chloe Smith, Ethan Thompson and Jenna Thompson had an amazing contest. In Goat Evaluation Casey Montgomery was 14th and the Clover Team was 4th in Goats. In Swine Ethan Thompson was 2nd, Jenna Thompson was 13th, and Chloe Smith was 14th and as a team, they were the 2nd place team in the State. In Beef Casey Montgomery was 8th individually. In Reasons/Non-Traditional Questions Casey Montgomery was 9th. As a Team the Clovers were 8th Overall. Great job Clover Team!
Unfortunately we did not have an Intermediate Team from Spencer County this year, but Sydney Warren competed as an individual and did an awesome job! Sydney was 14th in Goats, 3rd in Sheep, 16th in Beef, 17th in Reasons, and 11th Overall as an Individual. Way to go Sydney!
The Senior Team had a lot of fun at the State Contest. Adam Light, Logan Light, Makala Hatzman, and Madisyn Caudill made up of the Senior Team. Adam Light was 8th and Makala Hatzman was 18th in Goats and the Senior Team was 6th. The Senior Team ended up 11th Overall for the Contest. Great job Seniors!
