ANNIVERSARY: Sweazys celebrate 50 years of marriage

Winford and Marilyn (Shelburne) Sweazy will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday with a reception from 2 to 5 p.m.  at the First Baptist Church located at 115 W. Main St. in Taylorsville. They were married on Nov. 3, 1961, at the Shawnee Christian Church located in Louisville by Ivan Shelburne Jr.

Winford retired after 28 years of service at General Electric in Louisville where he worked in room air conditioning and refrigerators. In his career at G.E., Winford worked in production, supervision, and in the later part of his career as a lab technician and engineer.   
Marilyn retired in 1988 from Kentucky state government with 32 years of service. She began her career in state government in public safety at the State Fire Marshall’s Office then transferred to the Justice Cabinet. Most of her years of service were in the Justice Cabinet and with the Kentucky State Police where she was the executive secretary for four police commissioners.
They are the parents of two children, Ruth Ann, a kindergarten teacher at Taylorsville Elementary, and Eric, owner or Sweazy Farms, LLC, and Premier Crop Insurance.
