A state audit reveals the Spencer County Clerk’s office inappropriately spent $210 last year on Sam’s Club memberships for at least six office employees.
Itemized receipts and spending statements relating to the County Clerk’s purchases could not be obtained by the Spencer Magnet as early as today, after the newspaper filed an open records request to view those records.
During an annual audit of expenditures, State Auditor Crit Luallen discovered the County Clerk’s office spent a total of $245 on seven memberships to the wholesale discount retailer.
