From May 25, 1972: Members of the Spencer County Fire Department along with other volunteers collected $1,142 at roadblocks and other contributions for the Crusade for Children last weekend, helping boost the overall total collected in Kentucky and Indiana to well over $600,000. Adults leading the drive here, in addition to the fire department, included Irvin Graff, Johnnie Shafar, Bobby Ames, and Marvin Ingram. The money was delivered to Crusade headquarters Sunday afternoon. Pictured at left, volunteers gathered for delivery of the money.

From June 5, 2002, Hunter Tipton (age 8) of Elk Creek, participated in ‘Disney’s Sun & Surf Baseball Bash’ in Orlando. In his three innings of pitching, Hunter allowed 1 hit, no walks and struck-out 7. He also contributed at the plate going 2-for-2 with a double, RBI, two steals and a run scored. He is the son of Mike and Donna.

From June 3, 1982: The Northern Regional FFA Land Judging Contest was held May 13 at Oldham County. The Spencer County FFA Chapter placed third. The members of the Soil Judging team were Marty Ingram, Roy Johnson and Teri Coulter. Not pictured was Gary Bentley.
