The Spencer County Bears baseball team didn’t travel out of state for spring break, but they did hit the field for several games and are now sporting a 3-3 record as they begin a long homestand this week.
The Bears opened their season with a 7-6 win over Bullitt Central on March 24 then a week later, took a 17-3 decision over Doss at a baseball tournament at Louisville Valley. In that event, they also lost a 2-1 extra inning affair to George Rogers Clark.
The Bears also traveled to Green County for a wood bat tournament, and they captured a 8-5 win over host Green County, but suffered a 9-0 loss to Powell County and a 12-2 loss to Cumberland County.
The Bears were scheduled to host Atherton on Tuesday and will be home today against Gallatin County. On Saturday, they are set to host Louisville Valley and will be home again on Monday to host Atherton.
For the Lady Bears softball team, the season is has barely gotten started. Though they stand at 0-2, the girls have an opportunity this week to enter the winning column as they were scheduled to go on the road to Jefferstown on Tuesday and travel to North Oldham on Thursday. They’ll be at home on Friday to host Frankfort, and will be hosting North Bullitt at 11 a.m. on Saturday. On Monday, they’ll be at home against Anderson County.
