Board of education votes to allow junior/senior prom off campus

The Spencer County Board of Education has voted to approve an off-campus location for the 2013 Spencer County junior/senior prom following months of discussion and debate that, at times, seemed to leave the event’s future in question.
The board unanimously approved the Louisville Marriott East at 1903 Embassy Square Blvd. off the Watterson Expressway as the event’s location during a special January meeting. The current prom date is set for April 27 and cost is $45 per ticket, which includes dinner. Unlike last year, all participants will have to pay to attend.
