Celebration cake is versatile, mimics a pound cake

We recently celebrated my daughter’s sixth birthday with a party for her friends. We do not do big parties usually, but she is involved in several activities and we did not want to leave anyone out. I usually make layer cakes for birthdays, but my husband pointed out that cutting into layers for 20 children and an unknown number of adults would be difficult and messy. Not to mention that one cake would not be enough for that many people. I do not have a sheet pan of any size either.
