“Beyond the

Ashes” concert

Beyond the Ashes will be in concert Saturday at 6 p.m. at Mount Eden Christian Church, located at 12241 Mount Eden Road (Hwy 53), in Mount Eden. A love offering will be taken following the concert. This group will be performing at the Grand Ole Opry in the weeks following their Mount Eden appearance.

Big Spring dinner and music benefit

Big Spring Assembly of God is having a chicken dinner and gospel singing beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday. You’ll be helping to make mission work possible. Come for the food, fellowship and music. Proceeds will benefit CrossRoads Missions, the Maytown Center, and the Appalachia mission field of Eastern Kentucky. Good food, fellowship and all for a good cause.

Family fun day at Finchville Baptist

Due to the weather on May 16, we will be having another Family Fun Day/Corn-hole tournament on Saturday! Come join us at Finchville Baptist Church for inflatables, cake walks, concessions, face painting, raffles, and of course corn-hole.  Registration for the tournament begins at 9 a.m. and the first toss will be at 10 a.m.  Visit www.finchvillebaptist.com for a registration form and flier!

Revival at

New Hope


There will be a revival at New Hope Tabernacle, 722 Townhill Road, Sunday at 10:45 a.m. and at 6 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. Darrell Breeden will be the revivalist.

VBS at Fisherville Baptist Church

Fisherville Baptist Church will be having Vacation Bible School Monday –  Friday from 6 – 9 p.m.  Parents please come and join our adult class.  VBS kickoff Sunday 5 – 7 p.m.  Register your child and meet your teacher.  Food and inflatable provided.

VBS at First Baptist Church

G’day Mates! Hop on board the Boomerang Express™ and visit the Land Down Under for a week of nonstop action. It’s Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church, Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. until noon. First Baptist Church is located at 115 West Main Street in Taylorsville. Children from ages 2 years old to new 7th graders are invited for a one-week adventure of Bible stories, crafts, music, games and snacks as we learn what it means to live through Jesus! For children needing transportation, please call the church office at 477-8197. Come join us at First Baptist Church as we discover how it all comes back to Jesus!

VBS at Elk Creek Baptist

Elk Creek Baptist Church will be hosting Vacation Bible School from Sunday,  – Thursday from 6:30 – 9 p.m.  If you need transportation, please call Ricky Yates at 477.8310.

VBS at New Hope Tabernacle

New Hope Tabernacle located on Townhill Road will host “Roundup for Jesus” Vacation Bible School June 15 – 19 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. nightly. The Friday evening session culminates the week-long school with commencement beginning at 7 p.m. Classes will be offered for children ages 3 through 17 years. Pastor Joe Vires issues an invitation to all the community children to attend.

VBS at Little Union Baptist

Vacation Bible School begins at Little Union Baptist Church Monday through Friday from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Kick-off day is Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Ages 5-12.

VBS at Wakefield Christian

Wakefield Christian Church will be hosting a summer Vacation Bible School called Crocodile Dock. We invite kids of all ages to join us at the dock, “Where fearless kids shine God’s light. Kids will jump into bayou fun at Crocodile Dock where they will participate in memorable Bible learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork building games, dig into yummy treats, create Bible point crafts, and look each day for evidence of God all around them through something called God sightings. Dinner will be served daily. Our VBS will be June 8 – 12, 2009 from 6 p.m. until  9 p.m. with our closing program Saturday, June 13, at 5 p.m. Our address is 5669 Bloomfield Road, Taylorsville, Ky. 40071. Mary’s Clothes Closet

Mary’s Clothes Closet at Taylorsville United Methodist Church, located at 145 W. Main Street, has children’s clothing for newborns to size 7. This non-profit service also offers emergency diapers and wipes. The clothes closet is located in the large building directly behind the church. Hours are every Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. or by appointment. Everyone is welcome. For more information please call 477-8718.
