Open Door Christian to start Sunday night study
Open Door Christian Center, located at 2345 Taylorsville Road in Bloomfield, is hosting a class on Sunday nights, entitled, “The God I Never Knew.”
The class is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and runs through Sunday, Nov. 4.
The class includes special teaching by Robert Morris and is facilitated by Pastor Mavis Bennett.
The subject matter is “how real friendship with the holy spirit can change your life,” organizers said.

Finchville Baptist announces fall events
Finchville Baptist Church recently announced the following fall events:
•On Sunday, the church will host its annual chili cook-off from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $10 to enter a pot of chili or $5 at the door to buy a bowl and spoon to try the chili. Those who enter chili do not have to pay to eat. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: best vegetarian, where’s the fire extinguisher, most creative concoction and best overall chili. Funds go to the Children’s Ministry
•On Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the church will host a fall festival/trunk-or-treat. A prize will be awarded for the best decorated trunk.
•On Saturday, Nov. 3, the church will host an Arts and Crafts show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Booth space is $20 and an additional $5 for a table. Light concessions will be available. For more information, call Elizabeth at 859-866-3737 or email children@finchvillebaptist.com.

Riverview Baptist plans fish fry, homecoming
Riverview Baptist Church, located at 1850 Louisville Road in Coxs Creek near the lookout on U.S. 31E, is planning a car and tractor show and fish fry for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Narcotics Anonymous meetings will be held at First Christian Church weekly on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.

Ridgeview Baptist hosts Celebrate Recovery
Ridgeview Baptist Church at 10 Dogwood Circle will host its Celebrate Recovery group each Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christian-based eight-step recovery program. Anyone struggling with an addiction, unwanted habit or hurt is encouraged to attend.

Clothes closet at First Assembly of God
The First Assembly of God Church will operate a clothes closet at 402 Garrard St.
The closet will operate in the basement of the church; ring the bell at the door for admission.
The non-profit service will have infant sizes to adult sizes.
The clothes closet will be open every Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Mission for Christ plans worship at Signature
The Mission for Christ will be ministering in word and song at Signature Health Care on the first Thursday of each month. The community is invited. C.L. Glasscock is pastor.

Wednesday night activities at First Baptist
First Baptist Church of Taylorsville hosts an array of Christ-centered family activities on Wednesday nights starting at 6:30 p.m.
Adult prayer meeting and Bible study starts at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.
A free family meal is also served at 6:30 p.m. followed by fun and interesting Bible study classes for preschool, elementary, middle and high school students.
Transportation is available to those who do not have a way to get to the church.

Mary’s Clothes Closet at Taylorsville UMC
Mary’s Clothes Closet at Taylorsville United Methodist Church, located at 145 W. Main Street, has children’s clothing for newborns to size 7.
This non-profit service also offers emergency diapers and wipes.
The Clothes Closet is located in the large building directly behind the church. Hours are every Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. or by appointment.

Al-Anon meetings are each Monday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Taylorsville United Methodist Church, 175 W. Main St.

AA meetings at two locations
AA meetings are each Tuesday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 410 Main Cross.
A separate AA meeting is also held each Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Spencer County Extension Office, 66 Spears Drive.
