I crafted it in 8th grade woodworking shop at Belmont Junior High School in Winchester, Ky., - a crude little plaque that others in my class couldn’t comprehend. The assignment was designed to teach us how to use a table saw without cutting off our hands, and a band saw without losing a finger. It also taught me that being a basketball fan in Kentucky meant most people expected you to take a side.My plaque was simply going to be a reflection of my love for two state basketball powers, the University of Kentucky - my favorite team, and the University of Louisville.
