COLUMN: Columnist: Put Christ first or our country will fail

We are living in a time in America when our leaders do not look at the word of God.
2 Timothy 4:3 says, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they reap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.”
Doesn’t this sound like some national politicians today? Each one tells us that they have the answer to bring us out of the depression we are in.
If we do not elect and put people in office who fear God and walk with Jesus, it will not get any better. If we read the Old Testament, Israel is a great example to us. God kept giving them warning after warning and they did not listen and he scattered them all over the world.
Now let’s take a good look at our country: We have gotten so sinful that every time our government tries to improve, the things that are happening to us fail. The amazing thing is that it doesn’t take a person with a lot of education to figure out why.
The ones of us who walk with Jesus know why. It is very simple — we are listening to the devil instead of listening to God. This is what the government says: Borrow a lot of money and throw it at the problem and it will bring us out of this bad economy.
Let’s take a look at what the Bible says.
Deuteronomy 15:6: “For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shall lend unto many nations, but thou shall not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.”
President Obama has a pro-choice stance on abortion and has proposed setting up abortion clinics. What does the word of God say? Exodus 20:13 says, “Thou shall not kill.”
I saw on the news where we had repealed the “don’t ask, don’t tell” law on our armed forces, and the president encouraged the ones that had been discharged to reenlist.
Now let’s take a look at what the word of God says.
In Romans 1:25-28, we see the woman leaving the man and going after other women and we see men leaving the woman and going after other men. For this cause God said they dishonor their own bodies and gave them over to a reprobate mind.
For those who do not know what reprobate means, the dictionary says it means: 1) very wicked, unprincipled, deprived; 2) condemned as inferior; 3) predestined to eternal punishment or death beyond salvation.
The way I see all the sinful acts our country keeps committing, if we do not have a great revival in our country and come back to God and put Jesus Christ first in our life, our country will fall.
