COLUMN: High honors for shooting sports

Spencer County’s 4-H Shooting Sports Club was right on target at the 2013 4-H State Shooting Sports Competition, bringing home first place team trophies. This two-day competition was at the Bluegrass Sportsman’s Club in Wilmore on Saturday, Sept. 14, and at the Kentucky Wildlife Management Center in Berea on Sunday, Sept. 15.


The club claimed first place in the team archery - recurve event in the 12-14 age group. Team members and state champions are Jake Seigle, Jordon LeCompte, Makayla Trapp and Bradley Thomas.
In the archery - recurve event in the 12-14 age group, Jake Siegle placed second, Jordon LeCompte placed fifth, and Makayla Trapp placed eighth individually. Patrick Rood was seventh in the 15-18 age group. Also participating in recurve was Conner Trapp, Bradley Thomas, and Rivers Culwell-Hood.
Participating in the 12-14 age group in archery – target event were Jordon LeCompte, Max Dippel, Ben Dippel and Travis Clemens.
Participating in the archery – bowhunter event were Conner Trapp, Ben Dippel, Max Dippel, Jake Seigle, Jordon LeCompte, Travis Clemens, Bradley Thomas and Patrick Rood.
Participating in archery – compound bare event were Conner Trapp, Hailey Clemens, Jasmine Braden, Michelle Thomas, Jake Seigle and Bradley Thomas.
Patrick Rood tied for eighth place in the state in the trap-shooting event in the 15-18 age group. Dillon Stallings, Conner Trapp, Jake Seigle, Travis Clemens, Dalton Stallings, Max Dippel, Ben Dippel, Dustin Miller, Jesse Miller and Amanda Rood also participated in the State Trap Shooting Event.
