COLUMN: Make living for Christ a priority in 2012

As we leave 2011 and go into 2012, I would like to praise the Lord for being so good to Roberta and myself. I am 82 and she is 79 and God is with us. He has blessed us so much.
Some days are better than others, but as far back as I can remember it has always been like that. The amazing thing about living a life with God is that he makes you realize that no matter what comes your way, you can weather the storm through his love. When we take Jesus into our life we no longer live our life for ourselves, but live it for him.
Galatians 2:20 says, “/ am crucified with Christ, neverless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
If we live this kind of life, we will always be ready no matter what happens.
Let’s look at Romans 8:35-39: “Who shall separate from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword? As it is written: For thy sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
In writing this article, I tried to examine myself and ask myself a question. Would I have enough faith to stand up for Jesus no matter what was brought upon me? I really believe I would and I also believe the way our country is falling from grace, in the very near future it is hard to imagine what will happen to us.
In Luke 12:4-5 Jesus is telling us what to be afraid of: “And I say unto you, my friends, be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn whom ye shall fear: Fear him which, after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell. Yea, I say unto you, fear him.”
