The Spencer County Preschool recently received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

AdvancED describes SACS accreditation as “a set of rigorous protocols and research-based processes for evaluating an institution’s organizational effectiveness…accreditation is both a significant achievement pronouncing an institution’s quality of education, as well as a remarkably enriching process.” To receive the achievement and recognition of SACS accreditation, Spencer County Preschool had to demonstrate considerable skill in the development and implementation of a standards-based framework that includes an exceptional focus on vision and goals, teaching and learning, and the allocation of resources.
The SACS Accreditation process concluded on April 15, after the Preschool facilitated a two-day visit with a Quality Assurance Review Team from AdvancED.  During the visit, team members reviewed program documents, interviewed parents and staff, observed teacher instruction in the classroom, and collaborated with leadership to identify areas to target for continual growth.
In the fall, the Spencer County Preschool will apply for recognition from the Kentucky Department of Education as a Preschool of Quality. Currently, there are only three preschools in the state who have received this recognition.
