The 2012 District 3 4-H Tractor Contest was Monday, July 16, at the Spencer County Fairgrounds. All participants, from Spencer, Shelby and Henry counties, took a knowledge skill test, inspected the tractors and drove through an obstacle course, while using the safety procedures they learned in 4-H.

In the Junior Division, ages 9-13, of the Lawn Tractor Contest, Lane Reese of Shelby County took first place, Courtney Jeffiers of Spencer County placed second and Tommy Garrison of Henry County was third.
The Senior Lawn Tractor Division consisted of youth ages 14-18. Dakota Jenkins of Shelby County won this division and Morgan Mayer of Spencer County placed second.
In the Tractor Operations Contest for the Juniors, Bradley Thomas of Spencer County placed first in the district.
In the Senior Tractor Operations, Marty Mayer of Spencer County placed first and Dakota Jenkins of Shelby County placed second.
District 3 will be well represented at the State Fair Lawn Tractor and Tractor Operations Contest. The first and second in each of the four divisions are eligible for the State Fair.  Good luck to Spencer County 4-Her’s Courtney Jeffiers, Bradley Thomas, Morgan Mayer and Marty Mayer as they advance to the State Fair Contest in August.
Thank you to Adam for doing such a great job with this group of fine 4-H members and to Melissa Butler for helping with the courses. The Salt River Antique Tractor Club provided judges for this year’s contest. Thank you to all of the members, parents, family members and volunteers who helped make the 2012 District 3 4-H Tractor Driving Contest a huge success.
