After all the protesting, the church responsible for heading up “International burn a Koran day” called it off – but not before capturing the attention of the entire world. By September 11, 2010, the intended date of the bonfire, the story of the small congregation in Gainesville, Florida to burn the Muslim holy book had become so objectionable that it no longer mattered if the actions were carried out or not. The damage that has been done is irreversible.
