COLUMN: WANTED: Biblical leaders

-A A +A
By C.L. Glasscock

In the news, we see a lot about the six-day war. If I remember correctly, we were in the Vietnam War at the time. Israel was attacked. Egypt and some of the other countries attacked them.
They thought they had it planned just right, and would make a surprise attack and hit Israel on the holy of holiest day, which would be on a day when they were celebrating and giving thanks to God. That war lasted six days. When Israel got to the Wailing Wall, they stopped and gave thanks to God before they proceeded. At that time, some of our leaders made remarks like we ought to trade our general, who was in Vietnam for their General and give others to boot!
Even though I was a new Christian at that time, I thought how stupid can you get. God was their general and we had him for our General and lost him, and we came out of Vietnam, after years of war, without winning that war. What a sad thought. Now some of our leaders are over in those counties trying to go back to the six day war and what happened and trying to move boundary lines and call it peace talks. The greatest peach talks they could ever realize is get out of there and leave that to God!
In World War II, six million Jews were crucified by the Hitler regime, but after the war they came out ahead, they got their country back, and many returned to their homeland.
My greatest prayer is that our leaders in America would read the Bible. Not only read it, but apply it to their heart. I believe if they would, we would make a U-turn in the way we run our government.
I know in the bible, Israel had a lot of ups and downs, but in the end if they came back to God, they came out rejoicing. God promised Abraham, “I will bless them that bless you and curse them who curse you.” I believe God has blessed America more than any other country on earth. I also believe we are falling from grace at a high rate of speed. Even our President told another country we were no longer a Christian nation! I for one, think for sure, when we cease being a Christian nation, God will either give us over to a pagan nation or come and get his Church. I do not know which will happen, but I pray all will come to repentance and then God will send Jesus to come and get his Church.
