I am putting these words on paper on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Historical records show an average temperature for this date around 50 degrees. Today, it is struggling, in spite of some sun, to break 20 degrees. And not much change is offered. We have watched California dry up, the northern strip of the United States buried in snow and ice, and the eastern part of our country has been in disaster mode since Fall. For the first time in my life I heard the term “polar vortex.” I had to go to Wikipedia to find out what it meant — abnormal changes in the Jet Stream from the Arctic.
