Spencer County and Taylorsville suffered two losses last week with the deaths of a former city commissioner, as well as a well-known former business owner.
Robert Hayes, 82, died May 31 at his home. Hayes was a long-time member of the city commission, serving from 1986 to 2006.
Hayes, a retired truck driver for Jones Plastics in Jeffersontown, also served on the Spencer County Planning and Zoning Commission for 15 years. He also served on the Taylorsville Flood Wall Commission. Hayes was a member of Second Baptist Church of Taylorsville where he served as a trustee.
