County Clerks’ birdhouse project to benefit Kentucky veterans

-A A +A

Pictured above are birdhouses on display in the Spencer County Clerk’s office. The birdhouses can be purchased for a $20 donation to the Hope for Veterans fund. The project was started by Winston Meade, Letcher County Clerk. The birdhouses are made from a variety of discarded and returned license plates. Pictured above are birdhouses made from a breast cancer awareness plate, a veteran’s plate and a plate benefiting the Child Victims’ Trust Fund. Funds collected from the now statewide project benefit three veterans nursing homes in Kentucky, the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center, the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center and the Western Kentucky Veterans Home. For more information on the birdhouses or to inquire about purchasing one, contact the Spencer County Clerk’s Office at 477-3215.
