Following the lead of other counties across Kentucky, the Spencer County Fiscal Court approved on first reading an ordinance to ban the possession and sale of synthetic marijuana.
Synthetic marijuana, often marketed as herbal incense and sold over the counter in convenience stores, can be smoked, snorted or injected to produce a marijuana-like high.
Reports have surfaced across the state, including in neighboring Anderson County, of deaths and violent illnesses occurring after using the drug.
