A Cox’s Creek man has been charged in the stabbing of a man residing on Gordon Drive in Spencer County.

Donald G. Byrn, 52, has been charged with assault in the first degree and terroristic threatening of Donald Carey, also of Cox’s Creek.

Witnesses at the scene told police that the two men had been involved in a verbal disagreement, when allegedly Byrn pulled out a hunting knife, cutting Carey on the face and hand. Neither the victim nor the suspect was at the residence when police arrived at 10:40 p.m.

Carey was driven to Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, but was later transported to University of Louisville Hospital where he was admitted.

Kentucky State Police issued arrest warrants for Byrn and was seeking information on his whereabouts for two days before the suspect turned himself into police Oct. 1.

Byrn was taken to Shelby County Detention Center
