Cross country girls take second, boys third

Both the girls and boys cross country teams brought home team honors after attending the Edmonson County Wildcat Invitational on September 19.


The girls team placed 2nd in team scoring, with all six SCHS girls in the top 30 of the Varsity 5K. Christina Shawver led Spencer County with a 4th place finish and a time of 20:28, followed by Charliann Garcia (5th), Chelsey Talley (20th), Whitney O’Dell (21st), Adrian Gregory (24th), and Taylor Jaggers (30th).

Cory Kleinjan led the boys in the Varsity 5K, finishing 2nd with a time of 16:43.  He combined with Nathan Hahn (12th), Drew Abell (15th), Travis O’Dell (26th), Jacob Clausen (40th), Mike Williams (46th), and Luke Mantooth (58th), for a third place team finish.

Seventh grader, Summer Hughes ran in the girl’s middle school 3K, finishing 4th with a time of 12:28.

This week the team will stay closer to home, attending the Hillbilly Run in Nelson County.
