Cross country teams fare well at ‘Rumble

The Spencer County Middle and High School Cross Country teams attended the eighth annual Rumble in the Jungle at Creasy Mahan Nature preserve in Oldham County on Sept. 8.

Many of the most elite teams throughout the state attend this meet, and the competition is fierce.  Spencer County managed to fare well, with several athletes qualifying for medals.
Results are as follows:
Boys Varsity 5K: Travis O’dell 43rd out of 201 in 18:18.
Boys middle school 3K: Cameron Curran 20th in 11:57, Michael Seawright 59th in 13:00, Shane Henderson 64th in 13:05, Joel Wafford 76th in 13:12, Kobe Mitchell 77th in 13:13, Hunter Detrich 79th in 13:18, Luke Kirk 205th 16:15, Justin Strothman 212th in 16:46, and Steven Stayton 236th in 18:56. Over 240 young men competed in this event.
Girls middle school 3K: Ali Henderson 28th in 13:36, Maddie Cook 74th in 14:51, Marin Bennett 91st in 15:10, and Alexandria Britton 140th in 16:29. There were 215 young ladies in this event.  
This week the teams will head to Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville for the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational where they hope to see some of their fastest times of the season on a flat, fast course.
