The 2009 Baseball Bash at Ray Jewell Park Saturday drew hundreds of players and their families for an end of the season celebration.

“It was hot, but it turned out to be great. We probably had 600 to 700 people there,” said Daniel Cole, president of the Spencer County Youth Baseball Association.

The annual fundraiser brought in an estimated $5,000 that will be used toward dirt, brick dust conditioner and possibly even lights.

With 32 baseball and softball teams, scheduling games can be difficult, said Cole.

In addition to action on the field, players enjoyed an afternoon of inflatables, concessions and awards.
