A Taylorsville man facing multiple child sex abuse charges entered a not guilty plea Thursday.
Robert A. Divine, 33, was arraigned in Spencer County Circuit Court in front of judge Charles Hickman. He faces one count of first-degree sodomy involving a victim under 12 years of age, one count of incest involving a victim under 12 years of age or serious physical injury and one count of first-degree sexual abuse involving a victim under 12 years of age. All three charges are felonies.
A warrant was issued for Divine Aug. 27 and he was apprehended by the Nicholasville Police Department Sept. 23 in the 100 block of Cypress Street. It is unclear as to why Divine was in Nicholasville at the time of his arrest, and calls to the NPD seeking further information were not returned. According to the arrest citation, the arresting officer had no knowledge of the case.
According to the citation, the original violation date is listed as Aug. 23 and occurred on Jefferson Street in Spencer County.
Divine requested that the department of public advocacy be appointed to his case Thursday. He remains incarcerated at the Shelby County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.
Divine is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 8 for a disposition hearing. It is possible the case could be turned over to the grand jury, and a trial date would then be set.
