Election Deadlines

Spencer County Clerk Lynn Hesselbrock has provided the following information regarding upcoming election deadlines.
• Aug. 12 at 4 p.m.: Deadline to file for all non-partisan offices, city commissioners, school board and Soil and Water commissioners.
• Aug. 14 at 2 p.m.: Drawing of names to appear on the general election ballot.
• Sept. 18: First day to apply for absentee ballots by mail. The Clerk’s office will begin mailing out the ballots on that day. Ballots will be mailed out within three days of their receipt.
• Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.: Deadline to register to vote in general election.
• Oct. 15 at 10 a.m.: In house absentee voting will begin. The Clerk’s office will be open on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to noon.
• Oct. 24 at 4 p.m.: Deadline to file as a write-in candidate.
• Oct. 28: Last day to apply for a mail in ballot.
• Nov. 4: General election. Polls open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mail-in ballots must be received in the Clerk’s office by 6 p.m.
