Mid-South Fair Floriculture Contest

The Spencer County FFA Floriculture team competed in the Mid-South Fair Floriculture Contest and placed 3rd. The competing team members included Danielle Reeser, Kevin Herndon, and Brennan Nethery. Danielle Reeser was the 2nd High Individual in the contest.

The contest took place on September 22, in Memphis, Tenn. at the Mid-South Fair. Many FFA chapters are represented in this contest, which is one between several states in the south-eastern part of the United States. Teams were required to identify 20 flower species correctly and create an original dish garden arrangement. Alabama placed first in this contest, with Mississippi in second place. This team was chosen to represent Kentucky in the contest because of their 2nd place finish in the Kentucky State Fair contest held in August.

After completing the contest, the team spent the rest of the day touring Memphis, including seeing the Mid-South Fair, a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum, and a tour of Sun Studio, where Elvis received his first record deal.
