An early morning fire Tuesday on Bloomfield Road left a large amount of fire and smoke damage to a Spencer County woman’s home, but ended with no injuries.
Claudine Gaddie is the homeowner and she had already left for work.
The fire originated around 7 a.m. near the kitchen area in the rear of the home, which is located in the 1400 block of Bloomfield Road, said Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Chief Nathan Nation.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but local officials are working with an investigator from Kentucky State Police to determine a cause and pinpoint the origin as soon as possible.
Nation said arson is not suspected and that he called in KSP as part of the routine investigation.
Some passing motorists reported the fire to dispatch, Nation said.
A dog was in the home, but got out.
“He’s fine,” Nation said.
Nation said the home most likely will not be considered a total loss.
“The fire damage was contained to two rooms,” he said. “But there is a lot of smoke damage to the contents of the rest of the home.”
