Five students from Spencer County were named as participants in the Governor’s Scholar Program for 2011 in last week’s edition of the Spencer Magnet.
When recognized by the Governor’s office, Governor’s Scholar students are organized and recognized in the Congressional district determined by their home residency.
All students attending are named from the county in which they reside. Because of this rule, another student who attended Spencer County High School was left off this announcement sent by the Governor’s office.
Lindsey Brooke Matherly also attended GSP and attended Centre College for five weeks while her other classmates Susan Mann, Austin Jaggers, Cameron Bishop, and Corey Thomas attended Murray State or Bellarmine University.
These five Spencer County High School seniors attended five weeks of advanced classes and stimulating seminars that focused on highly specialized areas chosen by the scholars. This wonderful educational opportunity of attending GSP will assist these students in furthering their college education upon their high school graduation in the spring of 2012.
