Grand jury indicts man of arson

A Taylorsville man has been charged with arson by the Spencer County Grand Jury for allegedly destroying a building on Bloomfield Road three years ago.

Howard T.Jewell, Jr. of 112 Hardin Court, is facing one count of Class B felony arson for an incident that occurred around May 20, 2006.

Court records indicate that the building was owned by Roy and Vickie Price and located at 2857 Bloomfield Road.

The indictment states that Jewell is accused of starting a fire or causing an explosion “with the intent to destroy or damage” the property.

Other grand jury indictments also filed April 23:

Edgar Jay Norton III, of 220 Little Union Road in Taylorsville, has been indicted on two felonies for possession of methamphetamine and theft over $300.

Norton allegedly committed these offenses around December 20, 2008. He was also indicted with operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license, a class B misdemeanor.

Jacqueline Starr Hodge, of #16 Locust in Taylorsville, has been indicted on two felony counts for possession of cocaine and an unlawful transaction with a minor first degree.

Hodge will face court proceeding for allegedly causing a minor to engage in activity involving an illegal controlled substance for an incident that occurred around December 5, 2008.
