On Saturday, May 19, Spencer County 4-H Shooting Sports hosted the Fourth Annual Spencer County Invitational Shooting Sports Tournament at the Spencer County Fish and Game Club. This year over 300 youth, ranging from ages 9-18, competed in this event, representing 13 counties.

With all of the dedication of the Shooting Sports leaders and coaches, along with the Spencer County Fish and Game Club members, this tournament continues to grow and expand each year. The first year the tournament was held in 2009, only 50 youth competed in trap only. In 2010, it was expanded to include trap and archery and around 140 youth participated. In 2011, the tournament grew to 70 youth competing in trap, 87 archery shooters shooting in 135 events, and 35 rifle shooters. This year over 310 youth participated in trap, archery, rifle, bb gun and air pistol. There were people everywhere on the 19th at the Fish and Game Club, which is a huge accomplishment.
The 4-H members get a lot out of this tournament. Some experienced the joy of victory, others experienced the agony of defeat, but everyone experienced the happiness of fellowship, camaraderie and just plain fun. With this combination, everyone was a true winner.
