Chris Herndon was promoted to colonel in the U.S. Army on Jan. 1.
Herndon is the son of the late Clyde Herndon, formerly of Taylorsville, and Meryle W. Herndon, of Rogersville, Tenn.
He is currently serving as an international affairs specialist in the office of the Secretary of Defense in Washington DC.
Herndon is a 1982 graduate of Spencer County High School and attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Ky. as a ROTC scholarship student. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science and a commission as a second lieutenant of armor in May, 1986.
He served as commander of Delta Company, 2d Battalion, 72d Armor in Camp Casey, Korea (1991-92).
Herndon is married to Biba Badaro and has two children, Ian, 21, and Noor, 9.
