Nearly everyone who has driven on Garrard (GARE’-ed) Street knows that the Spier (SPEAR) House is historic. The two-story log house at the corner of Garrard and Washington Streets may have been the first structure in town and was a lodging place for weary travelers for many years. It is also well-known that the Stidger house, where Union spy Felix Stidger was born and where ice man Bud Mock lived for many years, is also an incredible treasure.
