The Leadership of the Senate Majority has appointed Senator Paul Hornback (R-Shelbyville) Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee. As chairman of a committee, Sen. Hornback will decide in what order bills are considered and who will be invited to speak on behalf of issues in front of the committee.
Hornback stated, “As a farmer from a long line of farmers, it is a distinct pleasure for me to represent the agriculture community and their interests in the state senate. Agriculture is the most important industry in every county I represent and I am humbled by this appointment.”
The Agriculture Committee is charged with overseeing matters pertaining to crop, livestock, poultry and their marketing, disease control and warehousing; tobacco; stockyards; agricultural cooperatives and marketing associations; agriculture weights and measures; and veterinarians.
