Friends and family are pulling together to offer financial and moral support for the family of 6-year-old Blake Hundley, who was diagnosed recently with cancer.

A horse show to benefit the Hundley family is planned for Sunday starting at 1 p.m. in the Waddy show ring off Kings Highway. Blake is the son of Adam and Kelly Hundley, who reside in the Mount Eden area.
Family friend Chassidy Hawkins has partnered with Selina Thompson Goode to plan and promote the show. Hawkins said Blake’s parents were unavailable to speak to reporters because Blake is hospitalized and extremely ill. Hawkins said Blake initially had a brain tumor removed and then cancer was found in his spinal fluid. He has been receiving aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments, she said.
Hawkins said she is familiar with the horse industry and felt like she had the knowledge to put a show together.
“Selina and I were talking of the different types of benefits that could be done to raise money for the family,” Hawkins said. “We’re a big horse family. That is the first thing I thought of was a horse show.”
She said the support from the Spencer, Shelby and Anderson counties has been almost unbelievable.
“The whole tri-county area has him on prayer lists,” Hawkins said. “If one of my children were going through this, I think it would help knowing that you had that many people behind you.”
The show itself includes more than 30 different categories for both adults and children. A complete list of entry categories and additional information is available at www.spencermagnet.com.
Show admission is $2 per person. Children ages 6 and under are admitted free. The event will also include raffles, door prizes, auction items and t-shirts for sale.
Hawkins said all proceeds from the show will go to the Hundley family to help offset medical expenses.
“Every bit of it is going to the family,” Hawkins said.
For additional information about the show, contact Hawkins at 502-680-0497 or Goode at 502-477-8636 or email selinagoode65@att.net.
The rain out date for the show will be Sept. 23.
