Emily Hume and Tyler Greenwell, both seniors in Spencer County, are the 2012 recipients of college scholarships from Farm Bureau. Hume and Greenwell each received $1,000 Spencer County Farm Bureau Scholarships.
These awards are two of the 234 college scholarships worth a total of $302,450 that the Spencer County Farm Bureau, Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation and numerous other individual county Farm Bureaus awarded this year to deserving students from across the Commonwealth.
After graduating, Greenwell plans to attend Western Kentucky University to receive a degree in mechanical engineering. He is the son of Dwight and Angie Greenwell of Taylorsville.
Hume plans to study pre-veterinary sciences at Murray State University and pursue a career as a large animal vet. She is the daughter of David and Tonya Hume of Taylorsville.
The scholarships, offered annually, are awarded to recipients who display the greatest levels of academic excellence, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership abilities and financial need.
