Spencer County Public Schools’ property, automobile and worker’s compensation insurance provider has gone bust, and the district, along with more than 100 other districts across Kentucky, will be stuck digging the Kentucky School Boards Insurance Trust out of its financial hole.
Just exactly how much money the district will owe to help make up for the deficit is still unknown, but the ordeal has left local and state education officials angry and with numerous questions.
