Frankfort – The Kentucky Commission on Women (KCW) is currently seeking female artists from Kentucky to paint portraits of the 2009 Kentucky Women Remembered Exhibit honorees. Bids must be submitted by Dec. 1, 2008. An application form is available on the KCW web site at www.women.ky.gov.

Kentucky Women Remembered began in 1978 and consists of portraits depicting exceptional women in Kentucky’s history.

The exhibit found a permanent home in the west wing of the Capitol in 1996 after many years of traveling around the state. Thousands of visitors to the state capitol view the portraits each year and learn about the heritage and contributions of Kentucky women.

The project will include up to three individual portraits in the watercolor medium with the specific proportions of 16 ¼” wide x 15 ¼” tall.  The newest portraits will be unveiled by Governor and Mrs. Beshear at a formal ceremony held in the Capitol Rotunda in March 2009.

For more information, visit www.women.ky.gov or call (502) 564-2611.
