Lady Bears' district runner-up title earns trip to regional

The Spencer County Lady Bears Volleyball team bowed out of postseason play Monday night after dropping two sets to Shelby County in the opening round of the 8th region tournament in Shelbyville.


The girls dropped a tough 25-21 decision in the first set, then lost the second by a score of 25-16. The loss ended the girls’ season after they compiled a record of 11-18.

Spencer County advanced to the regional tournament after finishing as runners-up in the 27th District last week. They won their opening district tournament contest with a 2-0 win over Bullitt Central, winning matches by scores of 25-9 and 25-18, and then fell to Bullitt East in two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-19.
