Shelby County closed the gap by scoring the first five points of the second quarter before MacKenzie Myers hit one of two free throws to push it back to 18-10. The Bears went into the halftime break with a 20-10 advantage.
Myers went to work inside and threatened to break the game open with a 24-10 lead before the Lady Rockets began to inch back into the game.
The Lady Bears struggled offensively late in the quarter and got their final three points in the third frame at the free throw line and led 30-24 with a quarter to go.
Shelby County sliced the lead to five to begin the fourth quarter but Spencer County continued to go to the free throw line and hit enough down the stretch to increase its lead to double figures and secure their second win of the season against seven losses.
For the evening, McKenna Pfeiffer led the way with 17 points while Myers added 16. MacKenzie Keown chipped in with five points, MacKenzie Smith added four and Sydney Spencer added two.
The Lady Bears will travel to Louisville Collegiate tonight and will be back home next Monday to host John Hardin.
