The Spencer County Lady Bears have had a very busy week on the court, playing five games since last Monday.
The Lady Bears opened up with a trip to Frankfort to play Western Hills and they came away with a hard-fought 39-37 victory.
Mackenzie Myers led the way for the Lady Bears with 13 points and 13 rebounds while MacKenzie Keown added 10 points. Krysten Barlow hit two three-pointers on her way to eight points and eight rebounds and McKenna Pfeiffer added five points with Kristien Downs scoring three.
The Lady Bears then traveled to Campbellsville over the weekend for a three-game tournament. The girls dropped the first game to the host Campbellsville Lady Eagles by a score of 48-28, but bounced back with a big 62-16 win over Trinity of Whitesville. In their final game of the tournament, the Lady Bears fell in a close 48-42 contest to Cumberland County.
Spencer County was back in action Monday night when they traveled to Anderson County, one of the favorites to win the 8th region. The Lady Bearcats proved to be as good as advertised as they delivered a 60-19 loss to the Bears.
Anderson County jumped out on top early, leading 26-6 after one quarter and never looked back.
For the Lady Bears, Myers led the way with 12 points, while Pfeiffer added four, Downs scored two and Barlow scored one.
The Lady Bears, 4-6 on the year, were scheduled to be at Shelby County on Tuesday and will be participating in the Whitefield Academy Christmas Classic next week after Christmas.
