LETTER: ‘Coal ash’ isn’t best option

-A A +A

I would like to ask the citizens of Spencer County if they agree with the road department spreading coal ash on our roads.
It tracks onto my driveway and into my garage and house. It washes off the roads and pollutes the streams and lakes. When it’s dry, the traffic kicks up dust.
I do appreciate them brine treating and plowing. I believe coal ash is a hazardous material. I would rather deal with the snow than black ash.
I did talk to the road department at one time. I was told to get signatures from people in my area. I think our magistrates can help, so please call if you agree.
It will take someone with authority to get it done.
