LETTER: Humane Society responds to letter

By The Staff

In response to the “Humane Society needs more help” letter from the October 21st issue, we would like to address some of Mr. Harley’s concerns.

The Kentucky Humane Society is contracted by Spencer County to handle animal ordinance enforcement and cruelty investigation. Per our contract, Mr. Harley is correct that we only have one officer on duty, who is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The officer can be reached at (502) 477-3332 or spencerrescue@kyhumane.org. Because the officer is often out of the office assisting people and animals in the community with issues such as those described, please leave a message if no one answers. Calls will be returned promptly. For emergencies after hours, contact the Spencer County Sherriff’s Office at (502) 477-3200.

Last year alone, the Kentucky Humane Society helped nearly 300 animals in the county. We provide this service to help neglected, abused and at-risk animals in Spencer County. Our goal is to make our area a better place for four-legged friends and the people who love them.

Please feel free to contact our main campus with any questions or concerns at (502) 366-3355. To learn more about our life-saving programs, visit www.kyhumane.org.
