LETTER: Litter abatement begins October 26

By The Staff

We are fast approaching the end of 2009, and are preparing to give our county its fall cleansing. We did well with the spring and summer efforts, and, in spite of the weather, the Taylorsville Lake Operation Clean Sweep was successful.

Because we have had such good cooperation from our groups, we are going to be more selective on which roads need the most tender loving care. Each Magistrate is going to select their most unkempt road and let me know, at the next fiscal court meeting, which road they have chosen.

Each group can now register, be assigned roads, and pick up their bags and gloves, etc. The official Fall Litter Abatement drive begins October 26 and runs through November 7. Hopefully, during that period, the weather will allow the groups to make their clean-up.

Remember, if we all think about bagging our own litter, we would save a lot of time, energy, and money.

Be careful, whatever you do.
