The challenges this winter were minimized by the great work of our state, county, and city road crews. Time and again, often back to back, with very long days, our road crews made it possible for Spencer County residents to travel. A minimal amount of school days were missed in comparison to surrounding counties which is largely attributed to effective treatment to our roads. The school district’s maintenance team also makes sure the parking lots are not a barrier to returning to school by clearing the lots and essential sidewalks so the sun can do the rest of the work.Todd Burch (county), Greg Langan (state), Jim Oliver (school), their crew and the city road crew deserve a round of applause from Spencer County for repeatedly doing an outstanding job for this community. As the Transportation Director for Spencer County Schools I can’t say enough about the great response and communication I experienced with these men this winter. Whether it was extra cinders, low branches, clearing cul-de-sacs, or fallen trees they are quick to respond and keep me informed. As we melt out of this last event let’s look forward to these same crews repairing potholes, mowing, and other warm weather projects. Good job!
