LETTER: Magistrate explains his "no" vote

A retired employee and friend of mine recently sent a letter to the editor and made certain statements about me and my vote regarding new hires March 23. I feel the need to respond to some of the points he raised. My entire record shows my support for our county employees and our community.

Spencer County teachers know how the state is struggling to keep their retirements solvent. The same is true for all employees in the state retirement system. No one wants more taxes. All are suffering. Everyone is being asked to sacrifice, and be responsible to changed circumstances.
