On Feb. 20, 1993, I took a walk down memory trail. I went to the nursing home in Taylorsville and I would like to say to the people who dread facing another day and don’t have anything to smile about — just walk into that nursing home and in a few minutes if you can’t find something to smile about, then you are in worse shape that those people in the nursing home.
Today, my foster dad is in the Taylorsville nursing home, and he is 96 years old. We had a big party to celebrate his birthday. His name is Charles Mattingly and he still has seven children living.
